How you can help
Each sponsor is given the name and photo of a particular resident boy whose total costs are £400 p.a. and sponsors try to meet that target of £400 including gift aid. Many sponsors give more than our target £400 and the surplus is used for the benefit of the home.
The sum of £400 pays for the boy’s accommodation, food, clothes, school fees, two sets of uniform, books, stationery, shoes, socks, tie, tiny pocket money (with extra for Independence Day 15th August), birthday and Christmas presents.
All boys are treated equally, so they each get similar presents on the one Birthday Day in July and at the Christmas party.
The boys are very caring and supportive of each other. We witnessed this first hand on our 2025 trip when the boys competed in their first marathon representing Albella. Several of the younger buys turned out at 6am to support the older boys and when one older boy won a medal for the running event he immediately gave it to one of the younger boys to wear.
A small proportion of what sponsors give goes towards funding the following: Albella’s adjacent Bonami Primary School with its eight classes from Nursery to Class V; staff costs ; food-transporting vehicles; and the new photo and letter from the boy, together with a report from the Principal which is sent each Christmas so sponsors have the pleasure of reading about and seeing the changes in their boy as he grows up.
Support for girls
If you prefer to give a contribution towards the education of girls we can facilitate this. The girls whom Albella support are not resident at the school but visit from time to time to receive their small financial allowance of pocket money (which they generally give to their parents to stop them having to leave education early to go to work) to cover basic food items and school books.
